On Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 7 p.m., First Baptist Church in Ithaca is hosting an inspiring evening of music featuring Bobby Jo Valentine, an award-winning progressive, faith-based singer/songwriter. Joining him as a special guest will be Transpose: Ithaca Queer Singers Alliance, formerly known as the Ithaca Gay Men’s Chorus.
Bobby Jo Valentine, based in Portland, Oregon, is known for his heart-opening folk/pop music that explores themes of peace, courage, love, and the sacredness of everyday life. His performances deliver a message of inclusiveness and hope, resonating deeply with audiences across the country.
In anticipation of his fall tour stop in Ithaca, Bobby Jo shared, “It’s so wonderful that churches like yours embrace and affirm the LGBTQ+ community. I grew up in, and came out of, a conservative Baptist environment, and I’m deeply moved by faith communities that welcome and celebrate everyone. Hosting a gay artist to share music and stories can be a beautiful way to highlight the safe harbor you provide for LGBTQ+ members and allies.”
Admission to the concert is free and donations are welcome. All proceeds will benefit The Trevor Project, a leading organization providing crisis counseling and resources to LGBTQ+ youth. To learn more visit thetrevorproject.org
